Job Description: Personal Assistant (PA) Support BR4

We are looking for a male Personal Assistant (PA) to provide support to a 17 year old individual on either a Wednesday or Thursday evening from 5 PM to 8 PM, with a fourth hour paid to cover transport costs. There will also be additional hours available during the holiday holidays due to accrued direct payment hours.

The primary responsibility of the PA will be to support an individual in becoming more independent and familiar with their local community. This includes travelling to the gym, which is located in Bromley Central, and engaging in various recreational activities such as skateboarding and bowling. These activities take place in the park at Coney Hall.

The PA will assist with safe navigation of the community, including ensuring safety when crossing roads and using pavements. The individual requires support with communication, so the PA will need to be patient and skilled in breaking down conversations to ensure they are clear and understandable.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accompany the individual to the gym, park, and bowling activities.
  2. Provide support during bus travel to help build independence in the community.
  3. Ensure safety when crossing roads and navigating the local area.
  4. Offer patient, clear communication tailored to the individual’s needs.
  5. Encourage engagement in physical activities such as skateboarding and bowling.
  6. No personal care tasks required.

Ideal Candidate:

  1. Male, patient, and able to communicate effectively with someone with autism.
  2. Willing to assist in navigating public spaces and travelling on public transport.
  3. Enjoys engaging in physical activities and spending time outdoors.
  4. Able to foster a supportive and encouraging environment to promote independence.
  5. Flexible availability, particularly on Wednesday or Thursday evenings with potential for additional hours during the holiday period.

No driving is required for this role. The PA will primarily assist with community engagement and ensuring the individual’s safety while out and about
